Game mechanics
The game was based on a deck of cards allowing certain moves during combat. Each deck could be customized. Characters got unlocked with new decks, allowing various combinations of fighters and movesets.
Decks function as timed combos: the player must press the cards in a certain rhythm to allow a combo to connect. A deadly blow can hit the opponent after certain moves. Guards are automatic if the character does not move. Cards are aligned with five attributes: fire, water, wind, light, and darkness.
Characters were able to use another weapon, like Yoshimitsu being able to use Siegfried's moveset.
