The Megaton Hammer is an extremely heavy hammer that Link can use. Learning to use it effectively could take some time, as its reach is somewhat short for a weapon. Its power and toughness, however, far exceed that of any normal sword. Its name is a pun of "mega ton".

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, the Megaton Hammer debuted as the temple treasure item found in the Fire Temple. This weapon was described as a mighty weapon that was used by a Goron Hero to defeat a legendary evil dragon, Volvagia. Because of its weight and sheer power, it had to be wielded with two hands. Its strength is so massive that it can force rusted switches to work again, which abound in the Fire Temple.

Link wields it with one hand, as opposed to two like in Ocarina of Time. Also, when hitting an enemy with it, the hammers produces a rattle noise.
