Yoshimitsu (妖刀吉光,, Yōtō Yoshimitsu^?) is the main weapon used by Yoshimitsu in Soulcalibur, Soulcalibur II, Soulcalibur III, Soulcalibur IV, and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny.

As a result of being tainted by Soul Edge's evil energy, it got turned into a demonic weapon. Yoshimitsu was able to control it by naming it after himself.^[1]

Soulcalibur[]

Profile: Yoshimitsu's beloved self-named katana was handed down through many generations of the famed Manji clan. At first glance, the sword appears to be just another katana, but it has many unique features that accommodated the Manji clan's unique martial arts style. Because of this, no one outside of the clan could replicate it.

One day, a feudal lord wiped out the entire clan and deprived Yoshimitsu of his home and family. Thus, Yoshimitsu swore an oath of vengeance upon the last remaining sword of his clan.

Years later after its confrontation with Soul Edge, this sword took on a mysterious glow and became a supernatural weapon for the champion of the poor and weak.

Soulcalibur II[]

Profile: A special Japanese sword created using techniques passed down within the Manji Clan. Since the clan was destroyed, this has become the final sword of its type. It is currently tainted with the power of Soul Edge and has become a demonic sword, but it is Yoshimitsu's preferred weapon. It is exceedingly well-balanced.

Soulcalibur IV[]

Profile[]

A special katana forged by secret means handed down through the Manji clan. It became the last of its kind with the demise of the clan.

Soul Edge's malice filled the blade and turned it demonic, but Yoshimitsu was able to keep the evil in check by giving the sword his own name.

Trivia[]

In Soulcalibur IV, the 2P variant's wakizashi has a purple handle, similar to that of the 1P's version. In Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, the handle was recoloured to be red, to match the katana's handle.
