Soulcalibur: A Crack in Time is a fighting game for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Wii U. It is the updated version of Soulcalibur V.

Development[]

Soulcalibur: A Crack in Time first started when the fans are started to hate Daishi Odashima, the game director of Soul Calibur V for 'ruining' Soul Calibur, which cause him to leave Project Soul in 2013. It is unknown when Daishi gonna return or is he's officially retired. Most of the fans are demanding Project Soul to make a better Soul Calibur game.

A young boy; John Dimson suggested every workers of Soulcalibur to do better, which leads to this. It is a crossover game between Soul Calibur IV and Soul Calibur V.

Gameplay[]

Like previous games in the series, Soulcalibur: A Crack in Time is a weapon-based fighting game. Players use high and low vertical and horizontal attacks to damage opposing player characters and can block incoming attacks or parry enemies' moves to gain a tactical advantage.

Character Creation returned to the game with over 100 equipments from Soulcalibur IV, Broken Destiny, V, and Lost Swords. Critcal Edge also returned to the game since Soulcalibur V.

Story Mode returns when the player plays as Patroklos, Siegfried, and various characters. In Arcade mode, featuring an opening and ending anime cutscenes.

Character creation also returns with over 200 equipments from Soulcalibur IV, Broken Destiny and V, with all new equipments from Lost Swords and hairstyles. Now the player is given an option to customize a mimic character's fighting style.

The game following the event after Soulcalibur V that one mistake changes the entire Soulcalibur universe forever as time began to restart itself by restoring both swords from exile. The new Soul Embrace has merged the world with different timelines. The game focus both Patroklos (1607 A.D.) and Siegfried (1591 A.D.) as the main protagonists of this game.

Just like Soulcalibur V, it contains 20 episodes.

General Gameplay Changes[]

  • General
    • The word 'First Attack' returns since Soulcalibur IV, when you or your opponent delivered a first strike.
    • Knockout quotes can be repeated by overkilling your opponent.
  • Creation
    • The player can now change the color of the mimic character's weapon trail and add the hit effects.

Returning Characters[]

  • Siegfried: The holy knight who once hold the Spirit Sword, known as Soul Calibur. He returns as the main protagonist once again, helping Patroklos and Pyrrha. He is the hero from the 1591 era.
  • Hilde: The princess of Wolfkrone.
  • Patroklos: The main character of Soulcalibur V. He is the hero from the 1607 era. He retains the Stigma Sword, but he now have a new shield.
  • Pyrrha: The supporting character from Soulcalibur V. Her new attire is the same outfit from Soulcalibur V, now comes with a malfested arm.
  • Mitsurugi: The samurai who is undefeated. He wields a katana, and he rewields Shishi-Oh following the time distortion.
  • Kilik: A former student of Edge Master. He re-wields the Kali-Yuga once again.
  • Xianghua: A mother of Xiba and Leixia. She wields a Chinese blade, just after her daughter.

  • Natsu: She is Taki's disciple. She suffers wounds from a girl with a ring blade, unleashing the demon Arahabaki. She now has a scar on her left eye with the demonic eyes of Arahabaki. She wields two kodachis, before her master.

  • Z.W.E.I.: A swordsman who survived his own 'death' after Soulcalibur V. His current appearance is from Soulcalibur V.
  • Viola: Her identity is still unknown during Soulcalibur V.
  • Yoshimitsu:
  • Zasalamel: The enigma who wields a death scythe. He saw a vision that could be Patroklos and Pyrrha's deception, so he decide to seek out help from them. His current appearance is from Soulcalibur IV.
  • Sophitia: Following after Soulcalibur IV, Sophitia sacrificed herself to save her daughter. In the aftermath of Soulcalibur V, Astral Chaos has been reopened as she was resurrected by Zasalamel to deal with an upcoming threat. She wields a sword and a shield, just after her daughter.
  • Cassandra: It is unknown about her whereabouts after Soulcalibur IV. Following the aftermath of Soulcalibur V, time began to create a continuum as she was free from Astral Chaos. No memory what happened after the war, she began to search her sister and her grandchildren. She wields a sword and shield, and regains her appearance from Soulcalibur III.
  • Ivy: She wields a snake sword, her own invention.
  • Cervantes: The Great Pirate King who never died. He wields a longsword and a pistol sword. His current appearance is from Soulcalibur V.

  • Tira: A girl with a ring blade and former ally of Pyrrha. When Patroklos and Pyrrha banished both swords and erased all history of the two swords, she seeks out to destroy the source of the problem of the cursed sword herself; Pyrrha.
  • Setsuka
  • Dampierre: The "lying, cheating, and stealing" con-artist king who made an impact as a downloadable character for Soulcalibur V.
  • Nightmare: The main antagonist of the series. Originally, is Graf Dumas who wields the cursed sword; Soul Edge during Soulcalibur V. Unfortunately, Dumas has fallen to his demise at the hands of a swordsman. When time began to reset by two swords, the Azure Knight has been resurrected, in thirst for more souls as he continues to set the world on fire with his sword. His current appearance is from Soulcalibur II.
  • Edge Master: The master of all swords, who mimics all characters' fighting styles. His current appearance is from Soulcalibur V.
  • Elysium: The manifested spirit from the holy sword known as Soul Calibur. She returns seeking revenge on Patroklos to restore order. She mimics all female fighting styles. Her current appearance is from Soulcalibur V.
  • Algol: The Hero King and creator of the two soul swords. His current appearance is Soulcalibur IV.
  • α Patroklos: The former wielder of the spirit sword; Soul Calibur. Despite all the sins he ever been through, he learned the moves from his master; Setsuka. He now wears a crystalized armor that came from the holy sword. His armor was based on SCIV's Siegfried.
  • Pyrrha Ω: The former wielder of the cursed sword; Soul Edge. After the death of Dumas, Tira gave her the sword, giving her an armor of the Azure Knight. Her armor was based on SCIV's Nightmare.
