Rekki-Maru & Mekki-Maru (裂鬼丸&滅鬼丸?) are a pair of ninjatō that have been used by Taki since Soulcalibur, and are one of the few weapons to have never been replaced in the following games.
Both ninja swords were also in Soul Edge, although in that game Taki only used one sword when in battle.
The Blades[]
Rekki-Maru (裂鬼丸)[]
Taki's original weapon from Soul Edge, and one of the few original weapons to have never been replaced in the following games. The games label Rekkimaru as a ninjatō (a ninja sword). According to its Soulcalibur profile, Rekkimaru is Taki's preferred weapon. She made it herself and infused its blade with mystical powers.
Mekki-Maru (滅鬼丸)[]
Taki's secondary weapon, added in Soulcalibur as her new dual-wielding style. Mekkimaru is the lower blade on Taki's back, and is used less often than Rekkimaru gameplay-wise. Even though Taki uses a single weapon in Soul Edge, Mekkimaru can be found in her Edge Master Mode quest as one of her unlockable weapons. According to Taki's Text Adventure mini-game, Taki's Mekki-Maru apparently was once property of Yoshimitsu's deceased Manji clan.

Soulcalibur[]
Description: Taki made her own weapons and protective gear partly out of a need and partly as a hobby. Taki created her most prized possession Rekki-Maru by incorporating supernatural powers in its blade. For Taki, it proved time and again to be a valuable partner in her work of slaying demons.
On the other hand, Mekki-Maru was a sword cloaked in mystery. Ever since it was fused with a fragment of Soul Edge, the sword emanated an evil aura whenever withdrawn from its protective scabbard. Because of this, even Taki handled it with caution. In any event, she would surely find a way to subjugate into obedience this sword of unmeasured potential.
Soulcalibur II[]
Description: Rekki-Maru is a demon-slaying sword that Taki created by infused it with supernatural powers. Mekki-Maru was given to her by Hachibei, a former ninja of the Fu-Ma Clan. She later increased its power with a fragment of Soul Edge. These weapons form a good balance of offense and defense—they are as much a part of Taki as her arms and legs.
Soulcalibur IV[]
Rekki-Maru[]
A sword forged by Taki herself while a member of the Fu-Ma clan, its demon-ward blade can detect strong auras and unquiet atmospheres and transmit those feelings to its mistress Taki. The sword was shattered once when it was crossed with Soul Edge, but Taki later repaired it. It is Taki's preferred weapon, and it never leaves her side.
Mekki-Maru[]
This is the enchanted sword that bewitched the master of the Fu-Ma ninjas and drove Taki to become a fugitive from the same clan. When she fused a fragment of the evil Soul Edge into Mekki-Maru, it surged with a power that even she could not control.
During her long flight from the Fu-Ma clan pursuers, Taki slowly honed her mental and spiritual strength until she could exert enough control over Mekk-Maru to use it in battle. She has covered its scabbard with charms and tokens, but its power is so great that even she only dares use it in crucial situations.
Soulcalibur VI[]

Profile[]
Taki has never shown a particular enthusiasm for the many missions requiring her sealing techniques, but she has shown a great interest in the forging and production of weapons. She crafted the ninja sword Rekki-Maru herself, then imbued it with the spiritual energy that allowed it to cut down even demons. It was an indispensable companion during her many battles against supernatural beings. Rekki-Maru broke during the battle with Soul Edge, but when Taki returned to Japan, she immediately set to work to forge the blade anew.
Mekki-Maru is a blade well worth caution. The fierce power sleeping within it is wreathed in mystery, and some even say the blade itself is cursed. Other rumors about the sword trace its origin to the Manji clan's village.
When she returned from her battle against Soul Edge, Taki attempted to fuse Mekk-Maru with a piece of the cursed sword she had recovered, but they were far more compatible than she had expected. Now, Mekki-Maru emanates an ominous aura, and Taki keeps it sheathed in a scabbard protected by powerful seals. This prevents the blade from breaking free and wreaking havoc, but only barely. Taki seems extremely cautious of using Mekki-Maru, and to this date has only drawn it in the most dire of situations.
Trivia[]
- Because Taki infused a shard of Soul Edge into it, Mekki-Maru glows with Soul Edge's aura.
- Interestingly, despite Soul Edge completely reforming all of its lost shards in Soulcalibur IV, Mekki-Maru still glows with Soul Edge's power, implying that her sword still has a shard from Soul Edge in it. This could simply be a mistake on the developers part, or if the evil power of Soul Edge simply stayed with the blade after Soul Edge made its complete reformation.
- At some point, 17 years after Soulcalibur IV, Natsu appears to have become the new wielder of Mekki-Maru (see this article).
- In Soulcalibur VI, both swords are colored red just like they were in Soulcalibur and Soulcalibur II but keep the same design from Soulcalibur III and IV. In her Colour 3 outfit, they are coloured white again.
