Early Life of Arrai

Arrai knew little of her early life. As a child, her room was adorned with strange objects. Among these objects were clothing and as well as armor but what stood out had been a sword. Its scabbard made of pure gold as well as its blade and pommel. Arrai oft prayed so that she would know more of her prior life before she was here, for she knew by her features and by all else's that she was not one of them. Arrai was not Japanese.

By the age of ten, Arrai stood over most women whom were within their twenties and thirties and often she was shunned despite growing within the land of the Rising Sun. As time passed, the children mostly teased and attempted to pick on her due to her difference; however, her will and lack of patience quickly turned any would-be bullies away. For years, she ignored them as well as terrified them until she found herself cornered by two grown men. They held swords at their waists and were both physically overpowering for her. She was in this position due to the lies that were told about her simply because she was foreign. Afore she was struck, she held her arms upwards in a state of defense and by doing this a small blast of light repelled her attacker and sent him reeling. The second man drew his blade and charged at the confused child only to suffer the same fate.

With the two of them unconscious (whom she believed were dead), Arrai fled. She fled in any direction to simply escape them until she found herself in an abandoned castle. She had taken shelter her to escape the rain and as such, she remained here until it passed. Yet, as she attemepted to leave, she was confronted by an elderly woman. There was an odd feeling to her but as odd as it felt, it was a pleasant warmth which eased her fears. After speaking with her, she was taken in and to her surprise, there were several other children living within this abandoned castle as well.

Despite her secluded lifestyle and her growing loneliness, she befriended two youths. They were both Japanese and were both of differing backgrounds. One was mostly silent, like her. The other was new. She was loud, she laughed, she played, and she made friends.

She learned what she could and as she learned, her personal belongings were delivered to the Castle Gate.

This youth which had befriended her and oft made jokes and any other means of comedy hadn't a name and before long, she was named Kami. Mi~Na gave her that name. She spoke to the two of them, mostly Kami initiated conversation since Arrai was used to never speaking to anyone. While learning more of what she was to become due to her unnatural nature, Arrai agreed to training so that she could better protect humanity from demons.

Ten years later...

As her twenty-second birthday came to pass, she had successfully completed her training. She was not alone however; fifteen others had done the very same simultaneously and as such they were given assignments to branch off and rid the world of darkness. Wandering monks and priests were also allies to them yet, their work was strictly of their own due to how few of them there were.

Setting foot outside of the Sakura Dai Gate after years of willingly living behind its walls, Arrai felt an odd calling. It beckoned her to the southwest and as she advanced upon that direction Kami was the first to block her path and playfully ask where she was off to.

Innately, Arrai was always wary of the twisted aura about Kami and this was due to her very aura being corrupted by the Nightmare of old. A multitude of energy surged and swarmed the youth and she was well aware of it herself--though she took it not as seriously as Arrai believed she should. After telling her of her plans, she felt Mi~Na approaching and as she did, the younger woman announced that they should all travel together as she planned to travel with Kami. Arrai thought of this for a moment. With Kami with them, they both could be in grave danger. Though, Mi~Na more than likely realized this and either thought it worth the risk and wanted to keep Kami safe or she wanted to keep her close to ensure Kami would not fully Malfest.

Either or, Arrai decided to travel with them but only if they visited one area first. With Kami asking where and then asking of the food this area held, Arrai smirked at her behavior but innately knew sooner of later, Kami would lose herself to her inner darkness. Until then, the Kaminchu Three set forth for Egypt.

1602

The trio came upon the golden sands of Egypt and stared at its beauty. The sun was slowly rising and the sky was a bluish orange with streaks of red. As they entered the cities below, the trio chose to stay together since they knew not much of the area let alone the people--yet for some reason, Arrai felt a rush of deja vu. Exploring the land and finally finding food to keep Kami quiet, Mi~Na sat and spoke with her. They discussed the demon for which they were seeking.

This demon had destroyed an decent amount of this area in the past and as Arrai looked to the towering pyramid, she could see nothing which stood out. Though she could feel a small amount of that demon's residual energy. Mi~Na could feel it as well. The demon was said to carry a sword and with this sword, it brought about death from the East as well as to the West. Mi~Na pointed out that the arts which Kami knows, those of the Ling Shen Su, have all but vanished due to this demon. Though despite the demon vanishing roughly 14 years ago, its tainted victims and even its own presence were still of this world. Kami was proof of that; and how she managed to retain herself was beyond Arrai.

The trio, also known as The Kaminchu Three, had been dealing with what was left over of this demon's power. Routing out those which were unholy, the three managed to maintain a low state of awareness to their presence. As such, they were able to move freely without incident. In between hunting, rest was needed. As they retained a close proximity to each other, they were able to detect abnormalities from vast distances and were also able to strategize just how to deal with each individual threat. however, as rest was taken, Arrai matched the design of her blade, Ra, to several intricate markings and cartoches. This was her lead, seeing that her blade held several designs which gave way the origin of Ra, she then looked to Bast and realized the same.

Even more proof to her thoughts, her Grandmaster told her of her weapon's names before she had even begun her training and now she has learned that Ra and Bast both bear ties to this land of unending golden sand.

With the years passed, Arrai read upon the history of Egypt. As she read, she drank mainly sake in order to keep herself fairly aware of her surroundings and when the night had fallen, yet she drank tea which was prepared by Mi~Na. The latest event which brought true significance had been the military's unrest during 1604. Governor Ibrahim Pasha had been beaten, dragged while tied to horseback, and finally beheaded. His head had been placed upon the Bab Zuwaylah. Yet, she need not focus much on that seeing as she was present when he had been taken and beaten. The beheading she had not witnessed nor did she care to.

As she thought of the current state of the area, mutinies such as this were common due to the Tulbah and the fact that these soldiers wanted it to cease. Even more so, the etched words upon Ra, being that of Coptic origin, was slowly beginning to decline. Ignoring the present for the moment, she continued to read.

Arrai read on, she learned of a priestess by the name of Tadukipa, a nubile young woman whom hailed from Naharin, (Mitanni in foriegn tounge) was to be joined with Amenhotep the III. However, under circumstances (which she could not find) Amenhotep III had died.

"The third (Amenhotep) died after her arrival..." With this found, she pondered: "...ill publicity to downplay the newcoming wife or a highly strong coincidence." Arrai could only imagine how Nefertitti would have veiwed this. Escpecially coming across other writings which tell of her jealousy.

What Arrai could not wrap her mind around had been how little of Tadukipa was mentioned and how also a woman by the name of Kiya had been brought to light. This Kiya had sprouted from nearly nowhere but what Arrai could tell was that Takukipa and Kiya were mentioned nearly at the same time and where one ended, the other began.

"Could she have been renamed?" She asked herself aloud. What Arrai knew of rights had been that if Kiya was the new name of Tadukipa, she had at least one child. With titles such as The Great Beloved Wife and The Favorite, Arrai found nothing of meaning to be Heiress or Great Loyal Wife. That alone told her that this Kiya was not of royal blood. Even so...Arrai knew that a child was possible but beyond her theories and speculations, she could go no further with her research.

"Her name has been erased..." This told Arrai that Kiya was likely exiled or quite possibly suffered some form of disgrace. If she died in good standing, then she likely would have a tomb marked for her and not mere writings here and there. In either case, "The Great Beloved Wife" vanished. As she read on, there appeared to be much destruction to the history which she had been reading. Though she was able to tell that a daughter was born and as that daughter lived on, Kiya outright vanished from history. This piqued Arrai's interest for this was the only female whose name truly vanished from monuments without much detail, only to be replaced by her former husband's daughters.

Mi~Na pointed out that they should soon depart the area after dwelling for so long. Reason be was due to the military and the increasing violence. Mi~Na was concerned with the fact that she and Kami were not of this land and with radical behavior increasing, she did not want to leave this land stained in the blood of enraged innocents. Acknowledging this, Arrai slowly began to pack her things yet, Mi~Na told her to stop.

"After we know the mystery of your origin, we'll leave."

A smile crept upon the Ryukyuan's face and as such, Arrai too held a small smile. From here she continued to read. Arrai had learned that from her markings, the marking upon her face, she was of the land (or near such) which the three had resided for a little over a year and a half. This was a magnificent find and even more promising that Arrai could have imagined.

Kami and Mi~Na

Kaminchu they both are and her first friends and her most valued human relationships. without them, Arrai would not be who she is, let alone the fact that she would not know who she is either. It was Mi~Na who realized Arrai's true heritage as well as Mi~Na's reasoning for treating Arrai as she did. Kami also helped Arrai out. for there was a point where Arrai, out of loneliness, contemplated suicide. Fortunately, the youngest and most jubilant Kaminchu of the three has kept Arrai from that path--despite the fact that neither of them know about this dark fact of hers.

Even more so, Arrai keeps the three together via level thinking.

Weapons

Ra: Arrai uses a blade forged by an ancient swordsmith. This weapon is half a scimitar yet bears twice the cutting ability due to its imbued nature. This weapon is name Ra, after the Egyptian God of the Sun. she is also in possession of a dagger which is of the same sect as her sword, Ra.

Talents

As a Kaminchu, Arrai has a plethora of skills which she can use to her advantage when engaged in combat. She is able to restore her body from practically any wound while also draining the pain from others all while suffering the double edged sword and taking on their injuries.

Physical Characteristics

Arrai, as a result to her inner spiritual powers, was marked upon her face before she was taken from Egypt. She bears two thin white streaks over each eye and these streaks run down to her cheeks. Her hair atop her head and her bodily hair is as white as snow.

Personality

Arrai is a level-headed and overly calm individual. She believes that approaching everything in this manner will bring about the best results or ones life. She never loses control of her emotions or if she does, she knows that her anger can have massive effects if used in the wrong purposes and as a Kaminchu, she needs to retain her discipline and retain her calm at all times. Arrai is protective of those she deems an ally and will fight to the death in order to protect Mi~Na and Kami. Annebella also falls into this category despite the short time she has known her. Though this comes from trust.

Arrai is Egyptian born and Japanese raised.

Of the three Kaminchu, she is the oldest, yet, Mi~Na is the strongest.

Oft addresses those she knows by their surnames; few are differentiated and are considered to be of some kind of importance.

Arrai is capable of speaking fluent Japanese but is also well-versed with the language of her people, Coptic (Egyptian).

Arrai arrived within Parousia to seek out the demonic blade long before she accepted the Kusari as allies.

Believes in her own technique for if she uses her skill, not even Thanatos can best her in combat. Despite this being out of arrogance, she believes she can best the Hybrid depite having difficulty combating Maria.

Long since friend and is considered a sister by Mi~Na and Kami.

Is capable of purifying possessed individuals as well as purging ailments such as poisons from another's body as well as her own.

Her blade is that of a half Scimitar while her dagger is of a Kujang.

Relationships

Mi~Na Kami
Mi~Na (Act II)
Mi~Na

Her unrelated "siblings" (as Kami has deemed them). With her training, Arrai spoke to these two the most. Rather, she spoke to Mi~Na while Kami spoke to everyone, including Arrai.

As three of several Kaminchu, the three have chosen to travel together and route the world of Soul Edge and its creations. At present, Arrai is investigating Parousia and staging the act of a soldier so she can do just that.

She is to regroup with Kami and then move on to Mi~Na's position near Klausenberg, yet she felt a Pulse. This Pulse was from the dark entity which lurked in Parousia and with it felt, Arrai relayed a message to Kami who in turn, plans to seek out Mi~Na.

Arrai does not trust Kami due to her aura--this aura is composed of her natural pure energies but also the twisted energies of the Original Nightmare.

The Egyptian plans to kill Kami but has not had the proper and opportune time to do so. This is of course if she cannot contain it. However, Arrai has long since made her peace with likely having to do such.

Sasaki Volkov
Sasaki Kuro (Act II thumbnail)
Sasaki

Sasaki is the younger brother of Volkov. A Hybrid just the same and one with a loose grip on his temper. He dislikes Arrai for her arrogance but also dislikes her for her nature. He does not trust her due to her affiliation as a Kaminchu: as a Kaminchu oft allies themselves with hunting and killing any that are above human.

She worries little of his hostility for she has bested him in combat once before, Volkov on the other hand is on a greater level of skill.

Volkov heads most decisions and has a greater knowledge of all whom are within the kuklos of warriors which have been deemed the Kusari. Arrai does not trust him for she believes those whom hold too great a power are oft corrupted.

Despite his noble deeds and good intentions, she secretly reseaches all she can about him so that she can expose him, and then cut him down and his younger brother if she has to.

Thanatos' Card
Volkov
Samara Seth
Samara (Grin)
Samara

A Hybrid of origin unknown. The beast has a knack for splitting open corpses and experimenting upon them. Beyond this, Arrai knows little of her. However, Samara's life trails back to Persia and she is somehow connected to the Fygul Cestemus.

Arrai knows not what she was or is researching, but like as not, it can be of no good.

Halteese Shira
Aliyah
Halteese

Arrai was able to see the blood relation tween Halphas and Aliyah -- a perk of being a Kaminchu. In all cases, she respects the Halteesean, her royal blood has nothing to do with her respect either.

Aliyah will try to resolve things peacefully and where that fails, her blade will answer.

The two met initially when Grandall forces crossed into Epistema, Halteese.

Arrai had fallen through the castle floor due to excess damage and was en route to regroup with her squadron as she came across several bodies of both green and gold stripes.

With a hand upon her blade, Arrai rounded the corner and found a lone soldier, a Halteesean, facing off against four attackers. How the lone soldier won was amazing: one decapitation rolled into a slashed throat, and from parry to bash to crushed skull and to impalement.

Arrai was slightly impressed -- especially when she noticed that it was a woman whom had felled the lot of the men who lay dead 'tween them.

When Aliyah turned her blade to Arrai however, she was outmatched. Arrai's agility was more than Aliyah could handle but to compensate for that, Aliyah fell back.

At this length, they were both ambushed by Dalkian and Malettan forces and were forced to work together in order to survive.

Victorious, Arrai eyed the Halteesean as she readied herself for combat against her once more.

Instead of continuing, Arrai spoke and from there a small conversation was held and 'tween them, they grew to respect each other.

However, Arrai gave her warning:

"If we cross paths once more afore my squadron departs, I will have no choice."

After she said this, she sheathed her blade -- ultimately resulting in Aliyah lowering hers. To follow this, Aliyah's reply was one that made Arrai smirk:

"Neither will I."

Needless to say, they crossed paths again. Arrai did not charge her, however, Pfieffer did and in mere seconds, Pfieffer was downed. Her countrymen joined in and were also swat away no more difficult than a fly.

Annebella then charged the woman and in that was a sight. They were blow for blow and neither could gain an upper hand. However, when Annebella was bashed by the Halteesean's shield, this is when Arrai chose to follow up on her warning.

With familiar and terrifying speed brought against her once more, Aliyah was on the complete defensive. Seeing that the Halteesean would perish under the pressure, Arrai fell back and took hold of Pfieffer's shield.

With a whistle, Annebella stepped to the side and in Aliyah's path had been the aformentioned shield -- hurled like a disc. Pfieffer's shield was spiked and at certain points, bladed.

Aliyah stopped the projectile, but just barely, and the deflection of said projectile shattered the glass behind her.

Aliyah eyed Arrai after this and for the brief second that she did, Arrai's expression and body language told her what was done.

Aliyah evaded Annebella's incoming slash and quicklly made distance. Dalkian forces entered the area and released a barrage of arrows. The Halteesean escaped through the shattered glass and (at that time) fell to a fate unknown.

The Ikiryo of Sengoku Jidai

After saving Arrai from grave injury, the Living Spirit is made a friend.  Ever since that day, the Ikiryo has travelled alongside the Kaminchu as an odd but valuable ally. Due to her state, being the living spirit as she is, Shira is (as far as the Kaminchu know) incapable of dying.

This adds as well as threatens the Kaminchu and all else within the plain of the living for if she were to choose to stand against humanity, the Kaminchu may not be a match for this Ikiryo.

Shira is one of few inhuman beings which she trusts and if there is a threat made to her, Arrai will stop the threat dead.

Shira
Williams Priya
Commander Annebella Williams
Williams

Annebella is a great woman with little in the way of disgust. Annebella is her Commanding Officer during the War against Dalkia and during Girardot's Rebellion. The two think along the same lines and are unencumbered by pride.

Yet, not even Annebella knows her true motives. In fact, Arrai has lied to her on several occassions. The main one is that her family was butchered in 1602 during the rise of a rebellion in Egypt and as such, the fear caused her "black hair" to lose all color.

She further has stated that it is for the failure of protecting her family that has given her the strength to protect others.

A noble cause--for a noble lie.

Commander Priya Delgado (Act I)
Priya
Riga Reaux
E'laura (Act- I)
Riga

E'laura is a strange woman. Arrai knows of her to paint and is also one with vast stores of wealth. Yet, her likes tend to be more of the militiristic and as a woman of the military whom outranks Arrai, she is down to earth and a very pleasant person.

When time allows, the two oft spar against one another for sporting purposes.

Pfieffer on the other hand, Arrai would not mind driving a blade into her skull. Pfieffer distrusts Arrai due to her complexion and her "exotic" features. Furthermore, Pfieffer normally challanges Arrai and engages her in combat without holding back.

Time and again, Arrai proves the better swordswoman and in the end, humiliates Pfieffer.

Pfieffer Reaux (Act I thumbnail)
Reaux

Trivia as of Act: II

Has advanced upon the idea of eliminating the demon sword.

Is now fighting side-by-side with Mi~Na and Kami under the guise as soldiers of Parousia.

Tries to work alongside Kami, though her infused aura makes it impossible to focus on the enemy when she knows not if Kami will turn against them both. This is the reason why Arrai is uneasy while around her and why she would rather Kami be killed than to allow her will to be overtaken by the malfestation.
