Rothion Alexander (ロティオン・アレクサンドル Rotion Arekusandoru) (born in 1564 - died in 1604) is a blacksmith who is Sophitia's husband, Pyrrha & Patroklos' father and Cassandra & Lucius' brother-in-law. Rothion and Sophitia's first encounter happened when Sophitia collapsed after a vision of Soul Edge. They were married after Sophitia returned from her second search for Soul Edge and they had two children named Pyrrha and Patroklos.
He was the one who forged Sophitia's Ω Sword & Elk Shield from holy ore given to him by Hephaestus. He also forged another sword and shield for Sophitia to use when Cassandra stole the originals. He also forged Cassandra's Digamma Sword & reforged the Nemea Shield, which was damaged.
Biography[]
During and after the events of Soulcalibur IV[]
Rothion had begun to be looked upon with scorn, due to his inability to protect his wife and daughter. Fewer people begun to buy his weapons. Rothion became a tool maker because he felt the weapons he created as a blacksmith didn't protect anyone. He went to search for Sophitia, under the guise of trips with Patroklos, but he couldn't find a way into the Holy Roman Empire.
He even hid the disappearances of Sophitia and Pyrrha from Patroklos, which angered his brother-in-law.
He told his son stories about Sophitia's journeys as a holy warrior, inspiring the young boy to become a holy warrior too. When Patroklos turned fifteen years old, Rothion died due to illness. Before his last breath, he told his son about Sophitia's death at the hands of the malfested, and that Pyrrha was kidnapped by a girl wielding a ring blade.
Soulcalibur VI[]
Cassandra stops by Rothion after asking him to repair the sword and shield that Sophitia used during her first quest to destroy Soul Edge, which had been greatly damaged upon her return. Cassandra questions Rothion if he believes whether the story Sophitia told—about being asked by Hephaestus to destroy Soul Edge—was true. As he is blacksmith, Rothion is able to tell that the weapons given to his fiancé were definitely not normal.
After Rothion finishes repairing the sword and shield, Cassandra asks him to help test them out, something that he's very reluctant to do, fearing that Sophitia might get mad at him for hurting her little sister. Cassandra decides to fight him anyways, wanting to know if Soul Edge had been resurrected. Rotion is surprised by her knowing this, and the fact that Cassandra learned how to fight, and is defeated by her. He confirms her suspicions of Sophitia leaving to destroy Soul Edge once again. Cassandra, upset and frustrated at the fact that Sophitia is delaying her wedding to Rothion and risking her life to destroy the cursed sword, tells him that she couldn't "stomach Sis marrying you right now," before leaving.
Rothion is seen again during his wedding to Sophitia, which had been delayed until she returned to Athens. Cassandra approaches him to apologise for the harsh words she spoke to him back then. He happily accepts, and the two of them agree to help Sophitia in her time of need. Later on, both he and Sophitia approach Cassandra, asking her that, should they ever have a child, they want her to name it as the two would have never gotten married if it wasn't for Cassandra.

A young Greek blacksmith who happened upon Sophitia when she collapsed from a vision of the carnage wrought by Soul Edge after the Evil Seed event. He carried her home and the two soon fell in love, vowing to marry. Rothion's deep connection with Sophitia and piety towards the gods of old allowed him to hear Hephaestus's voice, who bestowed upon him the iron of the gods. With it, he forged the Omega Sword, Elk Shield, and Sophitia's armor, all in order to aid his fiancée in her quest to destroy the cursed sword. Equipped with items blessed by the gods and forged with love by her fiancé, Sophita fights on.
