Soul Calibur: Kindred Fates is an upcoming installment in Namco's Soul series. Although it follows the canon of Soul Edge up to Soulcalibur IV, Soul Calibur: Kindred Fates will not be canonical to the Soul series, as it will be a sort of a "re-imagining" of the events of Soulcalibur V. Soul Calibur: Kindred Fates has been slated for a January 2014 release to the.PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
As stated above, Soul Calibur: Kindred Fates will be a re-imagining of the events of Soulcalibur V . As such, it will not be canon to the Soul series, but will follow the canon established by Soul Edge up to Soulcalibur IV.
Most of the playable characters from Soul Calibur V will return, but their roles, backgrounds and involvement to the main plot will be changed or altered. A handful of playable characters from the earlier Soul Calibur games that were not present in Soul Calibur V will also return as part of the playable cast. The following are the ones confirmed to return so far:
7.) Edge Master
16.) Zwei: Z.W.E.I. is being renamed simply as "Zwei". Zwei will be given a deeper background and a bigger involvement in the plot of Kindred Fates.
17.) Viola: Viola will be given a deeper background in Kindred Fates, up to the point that she might even turn out to be Amy.
19.) Leixia: In Kindred Fates, Leixia is a child of Kilik and Xianghua. However, she does not know that Kilik is her biological father,
20.) Xiba: In Kindred Fates, Xiba is not a child of Kilik and Xianghua, being instead a young friend and student of Kilik.
