Plot

The story starts off immediately after the end of Demon-Angel War. The Demons are forced to follow Hotaru's orders under the Law and Seres Saharah leads the Angels back to their Kingdom. With Hotaru in control of a Demon Army, will Sakura be able to defend herself and her kingdom from his wrath, all the while stopping him from finding Soul Edge? Let's find out...

There are three different perspectives told through out the story mode, one of which introduces brand new characters.

Mechanics

Oustide of story mode, the game plays like a traditional Soul Calibur game. Some features included are the Soul Gauge and Critical Edge. Impacting and Just Impacting have returned along with Critical Finishes, but Critical Finishes are only available to use if you have won 2 battles in a row out of three (3 out of 4, 4 out of 5).

During story mode, up until you get into a battle, the game plays much like a real-time RPG, Adventure game. For example, Dragon Age: Inquisition, but with only three party members. You can run around free-range areas and speak to NPCs. NPCs will typically give you quests to fufill. Depending on which story mode you do, there are advisors who will help you decide the best way to go about a quest. Whomever's idea you accept, effects the outcome of the quest. During the final battle, you are allowed Four members in your party.
