This page describes Kilina's story in the Soul series and Fan Astral series (among other Fan series') of video games. The Astral series follows the canon of the Soul series.

Biography

Early Life

As a child she and her sister had no home and no parents. Apparently her mother left her and her sister on the streets to die when she was only a baby. She was immediately taken in by the kingdom of Grandall and raised there with her sister. At the age of 7 the kingdom started teaching Kilina how to battle and protect herself.

Soulcalibur III - 1590 -

Kilina Cassaventes is a 17 year old girl and younger sister to Kisandra. She battles alongside the kingdom of Grandall traveling to other kingdoms to help Grandall take rule. She is extremely close with her sister Kisandra and therefore the two sister always battle aside each other while out on the battlefield. After a while Kilina and her sister realize that they do not want to take over other kingdoms and so betray Grandall and attack them. Almost on the brink of defeat Kilina realizes that she has no choice but to flee. As Kilina and her sister are fleeing they encounter their friend Abelia, they regretfully battle her but lose from being too weak. The pair run from Abelia and leave the kingdom of Grandall. After a long journey the sisters come across the kingdom of Wolfkrone and met Hilde. Hilde tells the sisters about the spirit sword Soul Calibur. Kilina also hears about a powerful sword named Soul Edge, and thus, pursues her own journey looking for the sword.

Soulcalibur IV - 1590 -

A few months ago Kilina heard about a sword named Soul Edge, not much was said about it except the fact that it has ultimate power. Kilina knew of the spirit sword Soul Calibur and so she thought "If I can get Soul Edge, I will be able to protect the country and defeat any who wish to cause harm to Soul Calibur". Hilde did not explain the dangers of Soul Edge to Kilina so not knowing that the sword is evil and could malfest her and devour her soul, she sets off on a journey to find it. Kilina travels the world further and further as she hears rumors about "an evil creature wielding a powerful sword". Hilde hears about Kilina's journey and is angered. She goes looking for Kilina. Eventually Kilina encounters Hilde "Hilde, what are you doing here?" "You CANNOT get Soul Edge, that sword is evil, its too dangerous! I will not let you be deluded by your own stupidity!" Kilina stands confused "Wha...?" "SILENCE! If I have to I will fight you!" Hilde launches towards Kilina and the pair fight. "Hilde I'm sorry" Kilina strikes Hilde one last time and continues on with her journey. Kilina travels from country to country and eventually comes across a man named Siegfried... "What are you doing? I will not let you wield Soul Edge" Kilina stood in shock, she looked at Siegfried and at his sword... Soul Calibur. "Ugh, I'm sorry but I have to defeat you!" She and Siegfried battle. After a long fight Kilina becomes the victor and without any hesitation runs past Siegfried "You don't know what you're doing!!" Siegfried shouts, Kilina ignores him and keeps running. Eventually, after a long journey Kilina comes across the evil creature wielding Soul Edge... Nightmare. Without any hesitation at all she shouts "You! I must have Soul Edge and protect the world!" she raises her sword and shield. "Haha, pathetic human! You shall perish!" Nightmare launches towards Kilina and a fierce battle takes place. "GIVE UP!!" Kilina screams and with one last strike hits Nightmare, he falls down releasing Soul Edge. "At last, that took too long!" Kilina walks over to Nightmare and picks up Soul Edge... The sword reacts with Kilina's body, a loud cry is heard... Kilina's body has been taken over by Soul Edge, she is now malfested and has became Kilina Ω. Not knowing of her own actions Kilina seeks souls, she travels town to town taking souls, searching to destroy Soul Calibur... But an unexpected fate awaits when she runs into her sister who is now wielding Soul Calibur...

Just after 4 (Ending) - 1590 -

Kilina after turning malfested.

Kilina is crazy, seeing Soul Calibur in her sisters hand she launches towards her "Ah, Kilina, what are you doing? Please stop!" Kisandra begs but Kilina does not listen, "I guess I have no choice" Kisandra begins to fight her sister in order to release her from the control of Soul Edge. After a long, hard battle Kisandra becomes weak, realizing she's losing. She's at her limit, weak, dying, she falls to the ground.

Kilina slowly walks towards Kisandra who is now out cold on the floor. She looks at her and Soul Calibur... And launches herself right at Kisandra. Kisandra smiles, pretending to be injured, "this is my chance" Kisandra swiftly evades Kilina's attack and quickly releases a power blow right to Kilina's left eye. Kilina lets out an incredible scream and Soul Edge flies out of her hand and hits the floor. A strange red glow emits from the sword, it travels around Kilina's pierced eye and enters her body. Kilina falls to the ground, out cold. Kisandra rushes over to Kilina's body and kneels besides her "Kilina wake up! Speak to me!" Kilina begins to groan as she regains conciseness no longer being malfested, her eye is badly injured from Kisandra. "I'm so sorry Kilina, but I had to save yo... Ugh" Kisandra feels a pain in her chest and falls backwards. Kilina, fully conscious now lifts herself up and rushes to Kisandra. "Kisandra are you okay? Get up, get up please! I'm sorry, pursuing Soul Edge was stupid, I'm stupid! Just please, GET UP!!" Kisandra looks up towards her sister and smiles "I... I'm sorry for hurting you... I love you sis... and tell Klymene... I love... her too... Please... look after her....". Kisandra is laying in a pool of her own blood, tears are streaming down Kilina's face, she begins to panic not knowing what to do. "Kisandra speak to me! Please! I'm so sorry!!" Kilina cries and cries. Suddenly the spirit sword glows... And out of nowhere disappears into think air, along with Kisandra's body... Kilina screams "KISANDRA!!". Crying, she lifts herself up of the ground "I promise Kisandra, I will look after Klymene... I love you". Kilina walks away.

The 17 year gap - 1602 -

12 years have passed since the death of Kilina's sister Kisandra. Kilina is now 29 and has spent the last 12 years looking after Kisandra's daughter Klymene who has just turned 12. Kilina's eye has healed due to the effects of Soul Edge entering her body the short time she wielded the sword. Now she has full eyesight again but a huge scar traveling from her forehead down through her eye. Kilina spent her days telling Klymene about how her mother was a brave warrior. On Klymene's 12th Birthday she told her how her mother died 12 years ago, and how Klymene should never attempt to pursue Soul Edge or Soul Calibur. But she knew that Soul Edge could rise again one day and so she began teaching Klymene how to fight to defend herself in the style of her mother but this proved to be a difficult task as Klymene was a scared young girl who doesn't like violence or the idea of death. She also started to train herself some of her sisters moves to honor her name.

- 1605 -

The past 3 years where hard for Kilina and now she had left. She left her home and her niece Klymene, who is now 15 all alone. After Kilina's eye got pierced years ago Soul Edge infected her wound, poisoning her blood and veins, and for the past 3 years it has been taunting her to find Soul Edge, it taunted her by making her wound ache and her mind go crazy, so she had no other choice but to leave, find Soul Edge, and wield it once again. So Kilina set off on her second journey to find Soul Edge despite the risk of death.

Soulcalibur V - 1607 -

2 years had past since Kilina set off to search for Soul Edge, and still she found nothing. Her wound began to ache, more and more each day, the longer she took to find Soul Edge the more pain she was in. With an aching wound Kilina grew weak, but she was closer to Soul Edge than she thought. She started hearing rumors that the Azure Nightmare had returned, eager to find Soul Edge and end her pain Kilina followed these rumors. She travelled across the land searching and searching, following rumor after rumor and still nothing. Then one day Kilina heard something that made her feel sick. She heard that Nightmare had been defeated and that Soul Edge has a new host, a young girl named Pyrrha. Distraught Kilina considers giving up "I cant take this pain no more!" she says to herself. Her wound aches even more "Ugh, I guess I have too.." Kilina carries on with her journey, now searching for Pyrrha. "Yes, at last, Pyrrha is near I can feel it" Kilina could sense that Pyrrha was close, but before she had a chance to pursue her somebody got in her way... Klymene, who she must now battle in order to continue.

Soulcalibur V (Ending) - 1607 -

"Klymene, what are you doing here? Please leave I need Soul Edge, my wound aches for it, that's why I left, I'm sorry I cannot let you stand in my way!" "I was searching for you, you left me alone! All I need now is Soul Calibur and I can prove to everyone at home that I am not tainted!" "Tainted? What are you talking about Klymene?" "I WAS RAN OUT OF OUR HOME BY PEOPLE WHO THOUGHT I WAS TAINTED! YOU LEFT ME, YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD ALWAYS PROTECT ME!" Klymene shouts. "I'm sorry Klymene, but I cant live with this aching wound anymore! If I have to fight you to get to Soul Edge then I will!" "Well then, I guess we have to fight!" Klymene raises her sword against Kilina and the pair battle. All that can be heard are the clash of swords, the battle continues for a while before both become too weak... "Kilina please... Give up" Out of breath and too weak, Klymene falls down "I'm sorry Klymene, I have to continue..." Kilina falls down, feeling too weak to carry on.. The two glance over at each other... Suddenly a huge explosion is heard, Kilina and Klymene jump up and look towards the sky.. Kilina is horrified at what she sees, Soul Calibur's energy and Soul Edge's energy are spiraling together in the sky towards Astral Chaos... "No, I need Soul Calibur!" screams Klymene "Klymene stop!!" Kilina watches as Klymene runs towards the energy, towards astral chaos... In complete shock Kilina continues to stare as she watches her niece disappear into astral chaos, as the sky turns back to normal. "What have I done? Klymene... Is gone?!" Kilina says to herself, "What about the swords too? Are they really gone? My wound ceases to ache. Kisandra, sis, I need you I'm so sorry I promise I will fix this!". And so Kilina decides she must find the swords and most importantly, her niece.

Lost Cathedral

It resembles many others, yet is like nothing else. A magnificent palace of water that seems to contain every form of architecture known to Europe. No one knows who made it, or where it is located. However, it is said that only those with a strong will and a willingness to bet their own lives can reach it. The great volume of water that flows through it is always circulating and pure, and it is said that it cleanses those who come here to pray.

Ostrheinsburg Castle Throne Room

Notable features include a chasm at one end of the room as well as a line of knights who serve as a wall. These knights actually move forward over the course of the battle, shrinking the stage area a bit. Kilina ended up here as a result of searching for Soul Edge.

Denevér Castle: Assault

A burning down castle stage that takes place on a half circle ledge with broken walls surrounding but with only one area to ring out the opponents. It appears that the background soldiers from the Ancient Citadel stage have invaded the castle while they struggle against another monster and it appears that flying dragons surround the skies of the stage as well. The theme music of this stage is Forsaken Sanctuary from Soulcalibur III.

Fighting Style

Soulcalibur III & Soulcalibur IV

Kilina fights very aggressively. She can attack when the opponent leaves an opening and place a lot of pressure onto them through her aggressive combos, stuns and throws. She combines speed with strength and both of these attributes are considered the best among other characters. She bounces around a lot while in battle which helps with putting off her opponents.

Soulcalibur V - Soulcalibur Astral Swords - A New Light

Kilina uses a modified version of her sisters main moveset, along with a few of her own original attacks as well. Kilina is much more violent and brutal in her actions. While her stance is simliar to her sisters, she is leaning slightly forward. However, Kilina appears to have different animations on her "strike" moves depending on how she is countered. She has many powerful combos which can be ended with her critical edge most of the time. She moves fast and with the right strategy while fighting is very powerful.

Critical Finish

Final Crush

In Kilina's Critical Finish, she slashes her opponent then playfully knocks them over with her rear. She stands up and then she sits on the opponent's face with clouds of pink hearts appearing. For the fatal hit, she places her shield over her rear before smashing down once more with a pink heart covering part of the screen. She then stands up.

Critical Edge

Omega Therion

Kilina stabs her opponent in the guts, lifts them in the air, stabs them deeper and creates an explosion that sends the opponent into the air, landing on the ground.
